Green Button gives you easy, secure access to your electricity, gas and water usage data to help you better understand your consumption, identify waste and make informed choices that can reduce your usage and lower your bills.

Ontario has mandated all regulated electricity and natural gas utilities to offer Green Button to their customers, ensuring a consistent, user-friendly way to access and share energy data across the province.

How Green Button Works

There are two key features designed to support your energy-management goals:

Download My Data (DMD)

DMD lets you download your utility-usage information directly from your account in a standard, easy-to-use format. With this data, you can review your historical and current usage, spot trends and make confident decisions to improve your efficiency.

Connect My Data (CMD)

CMD allows you to securely share your usage data with approved third-party providers. With your authorization, these providers can offer tools, insights and services to help you better track, manage and conserve your energy, gas or water consumption.

Both features follow Green Button standards, making it easier for developers to create helpful apps and services — and easier for you to benefit from them.

For Third-Party Providers

If you offer tools or services that can help customers manage their energy use, we welcome you to join our Green Button marketplace.

Registered providers can securely receive customer-authorized data and deliver meaningful insights and solutions. After submitting your registration form, our technical team will guide you through the onboarding process.
