We rely on customers to report outages, as we may not always be aware of smaller outages until someone lets us know.

Before You Call
If your home loses power, take a few quick steps before reporting an outage:
- Check your neighbourhood. See if your neighbours still have power.
- Inspect your electrical panel. If your home is the only one affected, make sure all breakers – including your main breaker – are in the “on” position, in particular the main breaker.
- Look for visible damage. Check your meter, service stack, or the lines leading to your home.
- If you notice damage, stay clear and contact a Licensed Electrical Contractor (ECRA/ESA).

If people or property are at risk, call 911 immediately.
For electrical emergencies, such as downed or sparking powerlines, call our Emergency Hotline at 1-877-310-4937. If you’re unable to reach us, contact police or fire services by calling 911.
Downed Powerlines or Equipment
If you see a downed line, pole, or branches in contact with powerlines:
- Stay back at least 10 metres (33 feet) — about the length of a school bus.
- Call 911 immediately.
- Never touch anything near the line — it could be electrified.
If you are in a vehicle that’s in contact with a powerline:
- Stay inside your vehicle and wait for help.
- Do not touch the doors or metal surfaces.
- If you must exit due to fire or imminent danger, jump clear with both feet together and shuffle away at least 10 metres without lifting your feet.
