At times, power outages are required to safely complete essential maintenance, repairs, or system upgrades. These planned outages help ensure reliable service and prevent unexpected interruptions in the future.

Whenever possible, we notify affected customers in advance and schedule the work to minimize disruption. In some cases, contractors — such as tree-trimming or construction crews — may request that power be temporarily shut off for safety reasons. When this occurs, we provide at least 48 hours’ notice.

For the safety of our crews and customers, planned outages may be rescheduled when necessary due to weather conditions or other operational factors, including extreme hot or cold temperatures.

If your property is affected, you’ll receive a notification by email or in writing with details about the outage, including the date, time, and expected duration.

Prepare for Planned Outages

Stay safe by taking a few simple precautions before the planned outage begins:

  • Make alternative arrangements for any medical equipment that relies on electricity.
  • Avoid using open flames near flammable materials.
  • Turn off all stove burners and ovens and keep them clear of any items that could ignite when power is restored.
  • Limit opening refrigerator and freezer doors to help maintain temperature.
  • Unplug sensitive electronics such as televisions and computers to prevent damage from power surges.
  • Never use charcoal or gas barbecues, camping heaters, or generators indoors.
  • Operate portable generators outdoors, positioned away from doors and windows to prevent fumes from entering your home.
  • Notify your security company if your system will be affected.
  • Familiarize yourself with how to manually operate your garage door.
