Burlington Hydro recently completed underground cable testing and replacement work in the Tyandaga neighbourhood to strengthen system reliability and support long-term service performance.
Through comprehensive testing, crews identified sections of cable at higher risk of failure and prioritized them for replacement. Much of the infrastructure in this area is direct-buried, which meant full replacement required detailed planning and permitting. Where immediate restoration was needed, temporary splicing was completed, with full replacement following soon after.
In total, 246 metres of primary cable were replaced in the Tyandaga subdivision — an important step in Burlington Hydro’s ongoing efforts to maintain a safe, reliable, and resilient electricity system for our community.
