The transformation of this vital historical and cultural landmark completes this summer.  They aim to be the first building in the city to achieve Platinum LEED Certification showcasing state-of-the-art energy efficiency.

Joseph Brant Museum is a 1937 replica of the house Mohawk native Joseph Brant, Thayendanegea, built on a 1798 Crown land grant. A modern addition to the museum is underway expanding into the grassy area under the current museum. Its unique architectural design features a green roof, locally sourced plantings, an indigenous garden, and expands its size by more than 12,000 square feet. The transformation will allow the Joseph Brant Museum to become a cultural destination and a place to host national exhibitions and the collection of artifacts. It provides a barrier-free space for gallery displays, interactive programming, the storage of collections and community outreach. The museum will  showcase Burlington’s history as well as provide fun, edutainment experiences. By sharing interesting and provocative perspectives about where we have been, where we are now and where we are going, we share in building a culturally diverse community.
