Effective January 1, 2016, if you have an account that falls within a residential rate classification you are automatically exempt from the requirement to pay the DRC on any electricity consumed after December 31, 2015.

Customers that are owners of Bulk Metered Multi-Unit Residential Premises, may be exempt from the requirement to pay the DRC, up to 1,500 kilowatt hours (kWh) per month multiplied by the number of Eligible Residential Units at the premise. In order to qualify for the DRC exemption, customers with Bulk Metered Multi-Residential Premises must file a Self-Declaration Form with Burlington Hydro. Residential customers and customers with eligible residential units that are separately metered automatically qualify for the DRC exemption and are not required to file a Self-Declaration Form.
