GridSmartCity’s growing roster of partners includes provincial and local government, universities, smart grid and green energy corporations and neighbouring utilities.

This year, the GridSmartCity™ Outreach Program was named winner of the 2010 Public Relations Innovation Award by the Electricity Distributors Association (EDA).

The GridSmartCity EDA Award submission focused on two key efforts in 2010 - the Community Launch of GridSmartCity showcasing Canada's 1st all-electric zero emission fleet vehicle, and the 1st annual GridSmartCity Round Table which assembled more than 200 industry and community leaders.

"Common to both initiatives, " says Smallegange, "was a focus on reframing the interaction between electricity utilities, customers and industry innovators to embrace green energy and the smart grid opportunities, but, amidst the reality of challenges within the electricity supply chain, and towards the goal of delivering more choice to the consumer."

“GridSmartCity is helping define a future direction that is essential for Burlington Hydro and the industry as a whole, to meet the needs of tomorrow’s customers, and those needs are evolving, quickly,” says Smallegange.
