Earth Hour 2019

From Toronto’s CN Tower to the Eiffel Tower in Paris and Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, the lights went dark around the world for Earth Hour this past Saturday, March 30, 2019. Individuals, businesses and cities in 188 countries and territories worldwide joined Earth Hour 2019 to speak up for nature and inspire urgent action for the environment.

Lights at Burlington Hydro were turned down between 8:30 and 9:30 pm to mark the occasion. In comparison to last Saturday (March 23) at the same hour, Burlington recorded a 1,676 kWh drop in power use, or just slightly over one per cent.

Earth Hour was started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then it has grown to engage more than 180 countries and territories worldwide.
