City of Burlington LED Street Light Replacement Program

The City of Burlington has partnered with Burlington Electricity Services Inc. to convert the City’s street lights from High Pressure Sodium light bulbs to Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs.

Once the LED street lights have been installed, the City of Burlington will continue to maintain the lights.

When reporting street light outages, customers can fill out a request form on the City’s website at or by calling 905-335-7600.

The replacement work will continue from September 2017 until the end of 2018.

LED street lights:

  • Have a 10-year life span as compared to the current 2-year span;
  • Improve energy efficiency and provide significant savings in electricity consumption;
  • Lower carbon emissions and reduce ambient street light; and,
  • Increase public safety with improved light dispersion on roads and sidewalks.
