Safety Tips
There are many common sense things you can do to avoid electrical hazards. Here are just a few examples:

Contact Burlington Hydro to locate underground wires in your yard BEFORE DIGGING!

Do not attempt to trim trees near overhead conductors!

Keep ladders, antennae, kites and poles away from the power lines around and going to the house

Never touch an electrical appliance or cord when your hands are wet or if you are standing in water

Never use any electric appliance in the shower. Shocks can be fatal

Outdoor outlets should be weatherproof and protected by a ground circuit interrupter

Use ONLY weather resistant cords outside

DON'T place an extension cord in a place where it is likely to be walked on

Replace burned fuses with a new one of the CORRECT SIZE!

Turn the main switch off to work on electrical appliances!
