Call Before You Dig!
Information for Contractors and Homeowners
Due to the potential of serious injury or death occurring if an underground cable is accidentally severed, the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act requires that you locate underground cables before you dig.
Before you dig, drill, blast, auger or drive stakes (including fence post spikes) into the ground, call Ontario One Call for information about free underground utility locations.
Ontario One Call notifies all its members who may have underground facilities near or at the proposed dig. They will arrange for free field locates, where appropriate.
Please call at least five working days before you are scheduled to start your work. Additional notice may be required during the busy spring season.
- Prevent costly repairs due to accidental dig-ins.
- Maybe even save your life.
- Never assume you know the location or depth of a cable.
