BHI Electricity Safety Road Show Teaches Youngsters to Respect Electricity
For Burlington youngsters, electricity represents both a formidable challenge and opportunity.
The challenge is to instill in our children at an early age that electricity can be fatal, and there are fundamental safety rules that must be respected to prevent accidents.
The opportunity is to engage youngsters in energy conservation. Their experiences and attitudes form the basis of tomorrow’s conservation success. They can also serve as a primary motivator for families to reduce their household’s carbon footprint.
To help instill a safety and conservation culture among Burlington’s youth, Burlington Hydro has a long tradition of taking our school safety and conservation program on the road. We’ve visited thousands of primary schools over the years, and it’s an ongoing commitment for us.
Typically held at school auditoriums throughout the city, the Burlington Hydro Safety and Conservation Roadshow features an interactive approach to teach children about ways to protect themselves from dangers posed by electrical facilities and encourage the safe use of electricity.
The roadshow helps impress youngsters during the formative years of the importance of a continuing supply of energy for future generations, and, the fundamentals to ensure children realize that dangers of electricity.
