Charles Keizer, Board Chair


Charles Keizer

Charles Keizer is a partner and Co-head of Torys’ Infrastructure and Energy Practice. His practice focuses on administrative and corporate/commercial law in the energy sector. Charles provides advice to various energy sector participants, including generators (renewable and conventional), transmitters, distributors, and gas and power marketers. He also advises clients on financing, project development, regulatory and contractual matters.

As lead counsel on a number of generation and transmission projects, Charles has provided strategic advice related to federal and provincial regulatory regimes, and he has a strong understanding of project development - from the initial sates to connection and commercial operation. Internationally, Charles has advised wholesale power sellers on issues relating to interjurisdictional trading and market rules, and proponents of international power lines on approvals. He has also negotiated interconnection agreements between transmission control areas.

Charles regularly appears before the Ontario Energy Board on rates, licensing and leave to construct matters.

Archie Bennett


Archie Bennett

Archie Bennett retired in 2007 after a 45-year career in senior management, engineering and construction, after leading the Burlington-based Zeton group of companies since 1989 to become the global leader in its field. He continues to serve on the parent and Dutch subsidiary boards of Zeton, and provides consulting services on management matters.

Educated in civil engineering at Purdue University in Indiana and before that at the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, he has an extensive background in new business development, marketing, engineering and construction in a technology environment.

 

Darla Youldon


Darla Youldon

Over her 26 year career, Darla Youldon, now retired, held various management positions at leading agricultural machinery manufacturer, Deere & Co. (DE).

Darla served in a wide variety of capacities including President of John Deere Credit Canada, VP of John Deere Ltd. Canada, and VP of John Deere Credit Worldwide in Des Moines, IA. Her experiences as the JD Credit Worldwide Customer Service Process Owner, have given her a wealth of knowledge in this discipline.

In addition to her role as a Director of Burlington Hydro, Darla remains busy in retirement providing consulting and management services to local businesses and Internet upstarts.

A Burlington resident for more than 25 years, Darla is an active member of the community. She is currently President of the Burlington Art Centre Foundation Board. She served as Chair of the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Foundation Board and sat on the Board of Nelson Youth Centres.

Darla was educated at McMaster University and lives in Burlington with her two sons, Tim and Greg.

Rick Goldring


Rick Goldring, Mayor for City of Burlington

On December 1, 2010 Rick Goldring was sworn into office as the City of Burlington’s 28th Mayor, after serving four years as Ward 5 City & Regional Councillor. A lifelong Burlington resident, Rick went to Nelson High School and earned his BA (Economics) from McMaster. He lives here with his wife, Cheryl, and their family consists of seven daughters.

Having been in business locally for 30 years, most recently as a senior financial advisor with Assante Financial Management Ltd., Rick has always been actively involved in community affairs. In addition to co-hosting Taking Care of Your Future on TV Cogeco, Rick is a member and past president of the Hamilton Chapter of Advocis – Canada’s largest association of financial advisors. Rick is a Rotarian, and has also been on the board of the Ron Edwards (Burlington) Family YMCA and the Burlington Chamber of Commerce. As City and Regional Councillor for Ward 5 in Burlington, he chaired both the Budget and Strategic Planning and the Community Services Committees.

Rick is passionate about his community and plans to address major concerns during his term including sustainable development, environmental issues and fiscal responsibility.

 

Jeff Fielding


Jeff Fielding, City Manager, City of Burlington

Jeff Fielding is a seasoned municipal administrator who has brought innovation and excellence to municipalities across Canada since beginning his work in municipal government in 1978. He is focused on bringing stability to the civic administration and instilling confidence and trust in the municipal workforce.

Jeff began his position as City Manager for Burlington in January 2012. Prior to coming to Burlington, he was City Manager with the City of London for nearly eight years. In London, he led a team that successfully built a sustainable and fiscally responsible public service business, and was recognized for his role in establishing a strong, supportive workplace culture. He was previously the Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Kitchener, and before that, acting executive officer with the City of Calgary, where he was responsible for Protective Services, Community and Social Services, and Parks and Recreation.

Jeff received graduate and undergraduate degrees in urban geography and urban planning from the University of Waterloo

 

Phil Nanavati


Phil Nanavati

P.K. (Phil) Nanavati is an owner, the broker of record and the president of Martel Commercial Realty Inc., Brokerage. He has been a licensed realtor® since 1980 first in Victoria, B.C. and currently in Burlington, Ontario.

In 1988, Phil was awarded the prestigious SIOR (Specialist in Industrial and Office Real Estate) designation by the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. He is a past-president of the Society and served for a number of years on their board of directors. Apart from his real estate education, Phil has passed the Canadian Securities Course, has a bachelor of science degree from M.I.T. and a master of science degree from the University of Calgary. Phil is a member of the commercial division of the Realtors Association of Hamilton/Burlington, chairman of the Ontario Real Estate Association’s Commercial Council, a Director of the Ontario Real Estate Association and a past Director of the Canadian Real Estate Association’s Commercial Council.

He has over twenty-five years experience working with large and medium sized companies in diverse business sectors including finance, manufacturing, consumer goods, oil and gas, field service, commercial office construction and leasing, retail and food service.

In 2007, Mr. Dalicandro obtained his Chartered Director designation from The Directors College, Degroote School of Business. He currently holds Board positions with Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario, Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Governance Chair, KARDON, ASI and HPOBI. Previous Board positions include FirstOntario Credit Union Governance Chair, Secretary and Vice Chairman; ASECO and Azertech.
