In early 2004 changes in regulation advanced public electrical safety
with the approval and introduction of Ontario Regulation 22/04. This
regulation came into affect on February 11, 2005 with a mandate to
address Electrical Distribution Safety.
This regulation establishes electrical safety requirements for the
design, construction and maintenance of electrical distribution systems
owned by licensed distributors. Burlington Hydro is a licensed
distributor in the Province of Ontario.
Part of this regulation includes annual audits to verify the
organizations compliance with Ontario Regulation 22/04. Burlington
Hydro has successfully completed two (2) audits. The most recent audit
was carried out on June 4th and 5th, 2007 for the period May 1, 2006 to
April 30, 2007.
The audit results stated that Burlington Hydro was in full compliance
with the regulation. The auditor went on to say that Burlington Hydro is
a industry leader in the Province of Ontario. This accolade has recently
been affirmed by the regulator (ESA) through Due Diligence Inspections
carried out over the past two (2) years.
