News Five Burlington electrical businesses have pitched in to provide an extensive lighting retrofit to Habitat for Humanity Halton. The project has helped the agency to significantly reduce its energy use and emissions -- it will save $3,400 on its annual hydro bill. ENERGY EFFICIENT FIXTURES INSTALLED "Habitat for Humanity Halton looked to more eco-friendly energy practices to ultimately give more back to its families and that's a great model for all not-for-profits," said David Collie, president and chief executive officer of Burlington Hydro Inc. The agency's savings come from replacing existing fixtures with energy efficient fluorescent fixtures at its ReStore on Appleby Line and office areas that operate in Burlington. Participating companies included Gerrie Electric, which donated lamps and ballasts together with Osram Sylvania. BJ Take donated 'high bay' fixtures, while Ampower Electric and Lightworks Inc. donated their skills and expertise. |
